At the age of seven he joined Tyrone Foster and the Arc Singers where he is still an active member of the reunion choir. While singing with the Arc Singers he toured around the country and abroad. During his early years while singing he found a new love, the saxophone. The saxophone opened his eyes and connected himself with a city known for its musical heritage. As Percy got older he continued to serve his community and joined the New Orleans Fire Dept., where he is still employed. In 2005 New Orleans was hit with the worst natural disaster the United States had ever seen. He along with other fireman saved and evacuated hundreds of citizens. But sadly Hurricane Katrina took his grandmother's life. In Sept. of '05 Mr. Baulden was featured in Time Magazine for his heroic efforts while fighting a 6-alarm townhouse fire during the storm. On any given Sunday you can find Percy still singing hymns, second lining to the hottest brass bands, or filming Mardi Gras Indians battle on the streets over the prettiest suits.
